A Facebook post shared by Facebook user LG Han stated of an incident that happened at Restaurant Labyrinth located in Esplanade.
Here is the story:
So on our first day of reopening last night, this happened:
A couple with a reservation walks in, and my GM requested to see their vaccination status on their Trace Together App after doing Safe Entry Check In. The guy casually flashes the app and when asked to show it clearly and to refresh the app in front of us to ensure that it is not a screenshot, we realised that his status is not yet fully vaccinated as per the TT app.
We refused to admit them as it is against the law and my GM even empathised with him saying that he himself cannot eat out for now either as the law defines fully vaccinated as 14 days after the 2nd jab.
Upon being denied entry and informed politely by my GM that their reservation deposit will be forfeited, the guy immediately goes into a rage claiming
1) he made the booking before the new laws were passed (just to clarify: this is what he claimed, his reservation was in fact made on 8 Aug)
2)he did not know abt the 14 days window
3) said it was unreasonable that we will take his deposit yet refuse to serve him in the restaurant
and then proceeded to hurl profanities to my GM and another staff (the F word was used twice) and even mocked their intellect and threatened to go online to post abt the incident to let the netizens “decide” and demanded to escalate this to the GM of the restaurant (whom he was talking to all this while).
My GM and PA held firm and remained calm throughout the exchange and refused him entry of which I am truly proud of but I feel sad for that they had to be verbally abused just for abiding the law.
Dear all, I have heard that what my staff have gone thru ytd isn’t an isolated incident since reopening and that other restaurants have also had similar experiences with errant customers who tried to cheat the system and being nasty to the restaurant.
Please, this is not our fault, we are just following the laws to protect you as a diner amidst the pandemic and we truly want to create a safe environment for our guests and my staff.
The story haven’t end
After the man was denied entry he went to Google to give a 1-star review
