VACCINE BOOSTER SHOTS FOR THOSE AGED 30 & ABOVE AND FRONTLINERS

The Ministry of Health announced in a press release earlier today that Singapore will be extending her booster programme to the frontline workers, healthcare professionals and those who are 30 years old and above, from 9 October onwards.

The frontliners who have completed their vaccination at least 6 months prior, will be invited to get their booster shots progressively.

The booster dose will be a Pandemic Special Access Route (PSAR) mRNA vaccine.

MOH reasoned that it is because they are more likely to come into contact with the confirmed cases during their line of work, putting them at greater risk of being infected.

The booster shot is also being planned to be rolled out to people people and staff working in institutions including prisons and residential care facilities.

This is because of their increased human density that could lead to large outbreaks of the virus.

Also, MOH announced that those who are 30 years old and above, who have completed their vaccination 6 months prior, will also be offered the booster shot progressively, from 9 October onwards.

A text message will be sent to their mobile numbers with a link for them to make a booking.

The booster shots can be taken at any Public Health Preparedness Clinic (PHPC) or vaccination centre.

As of 7 October 2021, about 372,000 persons have received the booster shot.
