A video emerged online showing a pizza delivery rider being run over by a van making a discretionary right turn along Pioneer Road on 23 April.
The accident took place along Pioneer Road North heading towards Nanyang Crescent, and was captured on the dashcam of another car that was nearby at the time.
The van was seen in the video making a right urn as the motorcyclist approached from the opposite direction, and the rider then tried to brake but couldn’t stop in time and ended up colliding with the van.
The motorcycle then crashed and the motorcyclist fell onto the road, and he then tried to get up but couldn’t and collapsed on the ground.
Following that, the van driver and his female passenger then alighted from the van to render aid to the stricken motorcyclist.
The Singapore Police Force said that they received a call for help on 23 April at about 4pm, and a 24-year-old male motorcyclist was conveyed to the hospital conscious.
The driver of the van, a 28-year-old man is currently assisting with the police with their investigations, which is ongoing.
Dashcam driver’s post
Posting to help in their insurance claims.
Van driver seems to not have been using his eyes while turning right, and motosikal rider wasn’t speeding and did try to brake to avoid collision.
It is not nice to be hit by 1.5 tonnes of van. Use your eyes when driving ,my dudes. Don’t strengthen the case for discretionary right turns to be removed. And hope rider can have a speedy recovery.

- The same junction i hate most.
LTA should not keep it as discretionary junction.
It should follow like this similar junction at Bedok turning to PIE. Only 1 side will turn green for straight ahead & turning to PIE, the other side will stay red. - This intersection is very dangerous. Its outside NTU. The curve in the road means that those that want to turn right cant see oncoming vehicles from far. It being a discretionary right turn adds to the danger
- After so many similar accident..I notice those going straight all did not look around at junction and prepare to stop in case but bash thru just because have right of way..cannot assume other driver can see or follow rules.. defensive riding n driving pls
