The two were seen in the video having dinner with what appeared to be glasses of red wine, with the person alleged to be Perera appearing to be holding on to Seah’s right hand and stroking it gently before Seah leaned in closer to say something inaudible to him.

Following the emergence of the video online, the Workers’ Party issued a media statement saying that they are aware of the video clip “that suggests an inappropriate exchange between two senior Party members”.

They said that they are currently looking in the matter and will comment when they have the facts, and added that they “expects all its members to fully own and account for their behaviour.”

Leon Perera

Leon Perera, 53, who is the MP for Aljunied GRC, is married to a woman named Carol and has a son and a daughter with her.

Although he did not secure a seat at that time, he went on to become a Non-Constituency Member of Parliament.

In the 2020 GE, he joined the WP’s winning slate for the Aljunied stronghold, ultimately securing a seat in Parliament.

Nicole Seah

Nicole Seah, aged 36, joined the Workers’ Party in 2015, after a stint with the Reform Party and the National Solidarity Party.

She gained recognition as the youngest female candidate in the 2011 general election. After a brief hiatus, she made a comeback as a WP candidate for East Coast in the 2020 polls before narrowly losing to the People’s Action Party’s team led by Heng Swee Keat.

She is married to a Singaporean engineer, Bryan, in August 2015 and together, the couple have two children as well.
