VIVIAN BALAKRISHNAN RECEIVES HEALTH RISK WARNING, WILL NOT GO TO BINTAN

Singapore’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan shared on his Facebook page recently that he has received a Health Risk Warning for possible exposure to the virus and has taken an ART test with negative results.

He adds that he will be staying back in Singapore and not travel to Bintan for the Leaders Retreat with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development, Sim Ann.

He also said that he will be following Protocol 3 and do ART tests regularly for the next seven days, while monitoring his own health by following the seven days observation period.

Dr Balakrishnan also mentioned that he is used to the ART regime as he has been doing tests after tests just before attending meetings and events in prior months.

Dr Balakrishnan will also handle his work via video conferencing for the time being.

Leaders’ Retreat in Bintan

The Leaders Retreat would be held in Bintan and it would be the first time it is held again since 2019.

The retreat this year marks the fifth official leaders retreat between the leaders of both nations.

PM Lee and President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, will be witnessing and signing the exchange of various agreements that were negotiated and announced at the last retreat in 2019.

In the many sets of agreements, one of it is about the realignment of boundaries between the Flight Information Region (FIR) of Jakarta as well as Singapore.

There is also a treaty between the both countries for the extradition of fugitives.

Defence Ministers of both Indonesia and Singapore will also hold a joint statement on the 2007 Defence Cooperation Agreement, the arrangement of the use of military training grounds in Indonesia between the Singapore Armed Forces as well as the Indonesian Armed Forces and also exchanging letters to bring the agreements in force together.
