According to The Independent Singapore, the alleged source of the message is an “active PAP member”. The Independent Singapore says that the alleged source now says that the rumour is “unverified” when asked for his opinion.

The message in full reads:

“Don’t forward any posts or videos etc, you receive regarding politics/present situation about Government/PM etc. Police have put out a notification termed .. Cyber Crime … and action will be taken… just delete… inform your friends and others too. Writing or forwarding any msg on any political and religious debate is an offence now…. arrest without warrant. This is very serious, please let it be known to all our groups and individual members as group admin can be in deep trouble. Please take note of this seriously.”

Should the police should investigate this serious attempt to subvert Singapore’s political stability?
