On Sunday, October 22, residents and passersby outside Casa Merah condominium along 50 Tanah Merah Kechil Avenue in Tanah Merah were stunned as household items rained down from one of the residential units.
The incident, which was caught on video and shared on TikTok, raised alarm among the public.
A TikTok video uploaded on the same day captured the startling scene. In the video, a resident of Casa Merah was seen throwing various household items from a window.
The netizen who shared the video, @leonasoh, captioned that there was a “crazy woman in our condo”, and added that the woman had been throwing things down the condo for the last hour, as of the time the video was taken.
These items included a laundry basket and a small luggage, among many other things. The footage quickly gained attention on social media, leaving viewers bewildered by the unusual spectacle.
SCDF deploys inflatable life air pack
Responding to the situation, police officers arrived at the scene, accompanied by personnel from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), who were seen preparing a safety life air pack, indicating their preparedness for any potential emergency.
The police disclosed that they had been alerted to the situation involving a 49-year-old woman who was throwing household items from her residential unit.
The police acted promptly to address the situation and ensure the safety of residents and the public in the vicinity.
The 49-year-old woman was subsequently apprehended under the Mental Health Act, which empowers authorities to intervene when an individual’s actions pose a threat to the life or personal safety of others due to mental health issues.
This act is designed to safeguard both the individual’s well-being and the safety of those around them.
As of now, the woman remains under the care of mental health professionals, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
