According to the media release, a 35-year-old Singaporean woman was arrested for unauthorised access to computer materials and leaking COVID-19 cases before MOH announcements.
She retrieves confidential information of a person who was tested positive for COVID-19 and passing this information to her friend.
On the 16 of April 2020, The police were alerted that an Instagram Story revealed the number of people tested positive for the Coronavirus before MOH made the announcements.
Investigations by the Police revealed that she had released the information via Wechat groups on several occasions and one of them is on the 16 of April 2020, which had 728 cases before MOH announced it late at night.
If she is found guilty of breaching Official Secrets Act, she will be facing a fined of up to $2000 and two years jail.
For authorised access under Computer Misuse Act she is facing a fine of up to $5000 and two years jail.
This is the 2nd incident of a public servant releasing information on COVID-19.
