Facebook user Mandy Lim shared how she brought her own recycled bag to a supermarket and was charged $1 for the bag, which she previously bought from the same supermarket.
Here is what she said
I dont understand why when i bring the recycled bag (previously bought) from Scarlett, still have to be charge again for it. I bought the recycled bag from them when i did my previous purchases.
Luckily i checked my receipt when i on the escalator. Sad for me and my gals are that we have come down again with my trolley of stuffs to confront the cashier. And yet she is non-apologetic at all. Not even a sorry from her nor from the male manager or staff in blue shirt when she ask for his assistance to refund me the $1.
The thing is me and my gals pull the scarlett recycled bag from my trolley infront of the cashier when it is my turn to make payment. When the cashier asked if i want the plastic bags, i replied no, i have my own brought recycled bag. Yet she charged me for my own brought recycled bag.
I am dumbfounded totally. Even though it is only $1 but still i think it is ridiculous lor.
If the shop sells recycled bags for shoppers like us, then still double charge us for it when we bring our previous bought recycled bags from them. Then what is the point of us buying and bringing the recycled bags.
I think they need to further train their staffs.
Never once i encountered such issues with NTUC when i bring the ntuc recycled bag from home. Maybe they should learn from NTUC to put a pricetag on their new recycled bags to differientiate between those havent paid for and customers own brought one.
