A Facebook user, Moo PL, shared a photo of a woman pushing a cat inside a pram and abandoning it at an open carpark.
The netizen found the cat inside a pram next to her car, and appealed to other netizens for help in the Facebook post on 16 June.
The owner of the cat was caught in the netizen’s car’s dashcam video abandoning the cat by leaving it in a pram at the carpark between two cars and leaving.
The cat was seen in the video meowing pitifully and looking confused inside the pram.
Update: The netizen shared that her relative has adopted the abandoned cat after falling in love with it, and they will be waiting to get in touch with AVS.
Potential penalties
It is an offence to abandon pets on the streets and persons found guilty of pet abandonment can face a maximum fine of $10,000 and/or a jail term of up to 12 months, under the Animals and Birds Act.
