In a recent incident along Potong Pasir Avenue 1, a female SUV driver was involved in a head-on collision with a taxi after driving against the flow of traffic.
Shockingly, she allegedly fled the accident scene without exchanging details with the taxi driver. The incident, which occurred around midnight at about 12.30am on July 12, was captured by an onlooker and shared on the Facebook page SGRV Admin.
They also added that the woman appeared to be “intoxicated based on her verbal response” and that she “didn’t know she (was) driving (the) wrong way”.
The Accident
The collision took place when the female SUV driver who was driving what appeared to be a Nissan Qashqai at the time of the accident (according to the video’s caption), reportedly driving against the flow of traffic, collided head-to-head with the taxi.
The onlooker’s video footage and accompanying caption shed light on the events that unfolded during the incident.
The video shows the female driver allegedly fleeing the scene approximately five minutes after the collision, without exchanging details with the taxi driver.
The traffic police and ambulance had not yet arrived when she made her escape.
The taxi driver, who was wearing a blue shirt, can be seen in the video pointing at the SUV, seemingly trying to prevent the female driver from fleeing.
Despite his efforts, the female driver continued with her escape and disappeared from the video after making a left turn at the junction.
Police Involvement and Investigation
Following the incident, the taxi driver promptly lodged a police report. The Singapore Police Force confirmed the hit-and-run case involving a car and a taxi along Potong Pasir Avenue 1 towards Wan Tho Avenue on July 12 at 12:37 am.
The 63-year-old male taxi driver was taken to the hospital conscious for further medical attention. The police are currently conducting investigations to identify the female SUV driver and gather more information about the incident.
