WOMAN EXERCISE TO FEEL HAPPY BUT END UP FEELING MORE DRAINED, QUESTIONS HER EXISTENCE

Anyone also often feels more drained and tired after exercise rather than happy?

How does everyone usually feel after exercising?

I do regular exercise mostly in the form of yoga class every week. Been more than a year already. I see myself improving in terms of strength, balance and flexibility.

However, quite often I still feel quite drained of energy and tired few hours after the class. At times I even have some kind of headache due to the fatigue.

This makes me question the meaning of my exercise. Isn’t exercise supposed to help lift your spirits and make you feel better?

The yoga class I attend is not the meditative sort, some of the classes are considered pretty intensive, alot of core training and strengthening exercises so will sweat quite a lot.

  • I think you might be overtraining and over exerting yourself. You also need to drink plenty of water (with electrolytes) and get enough rest and eat enough. If muscle growth is your goal, you need good energy and sufficient protein as well.
  • Hey OP, I think I know what you mean. My form of exercise is running but when I run outside, I always feel drained and tired even if I’m getting better in terms of speed or endurance. I think it’s the heat and humidity (and dodging pedestrians and cyclists) outside that causes me to have my energy sapped.
When I change that to running on the treadmill in an aircon gym, I find I can run longer and faster and actually get an endorphin high around the 30-minute mark which is incredibly rewarding. I think you need to change individual factors that might be sapping your energy and see if it helps.
  • Me too. I think it’s normal? Coz your muscles are literally ripped apart during exercise and your body needs to recover.
