She said that she saw a GrabFood rider staring at the rain with despair in his eyes, but continued to ride out into the rain to send the food order.

She asked for people to be kinder to the delivery people.

Here is the full post:

“He sighed, shook his head in resignation and rode out in the heavy rain.

Met this young man when I was at Balestier yesterday. I was hiding from the heavy downpour. He had just collected the food for his order. I watched him stare at the rain for a bit. I could see the despair in his eyes. But he still did his job.

When we order stuff to be delivered, we are probably too lazy to head out, too busy, don’t want to go out in the sun or want to avoid the rain ourselves… so the delivery guys do it for us. It’s true that they are paid, but it’s not an easy job and it’s certainly not a lot of money… at times, it’s dangerous even… as the young man rode away, I felt worried for him.

It’ll be nice to be a little kinder to our delivery people. If the item comes a little late, a little wet, a little less than what I expect, I’ll remember to give and take. Thanks guys for bringing some convenience to our lives.”
