The incident reportedly took place at around 8:45pm on Apr. 25 and has since triggered concerns over privacy and safety in public sports facilities across Singapore.

According to reports, the woman had just finished showering and was drying her hair under a fan inside the restroom when she noticed another female patron emerge from one of the shower cubicles before sitting down to use her mobile phone.

Moments later, she allegedly saw a man walk out from another shower stall within the women’s bathing area before calmly leaving the restroom.

Shocked by what she witnessed, the woman immediately asked the other female patron whether she had also seen the man. However, the other person reportedly said she did not notice him.

Woman Chased After Man Outside Restroom

The woman then reportedly pursued the man after he exited the women’s restroom and alerted a male staff member at the swimming complex.

By the time staff intervened, the man had allegedly already walked towards the facility’s exit before being stopped by a female employee.

When confronted, the man reportedly admitted that he had come out from the women’s restroom but claimed it was an accident.

According to the woman’s account, the man allegedly said it was his first time visiting the swimming complex and that he had mistakenly entered the wrong bathing area because he was unfamiliar with the layout.

The woman said the man appeared calm throughout the encounter and insisted that there had been nobody else inside the restroom when he entered.

However, the woman remained unconvinced by his explanation, especially since the men’s and women’s restrooms were reportedly clearly marked with visible gender signs.

Questions Raised Over Man’s Explanation

The woman also pointed out that the man was carrying only a small, flat bag measuring roughly 25cm in length.

She claimed the bag did not appear large enough to contain swimming attire, towels or other items typically carried by swimmers using the public pool facilities.

“He didn’t look like someone who came to swim or had just taken a shower,” she reportedly said.

Media observations at the swimming complex later noted that most swimmers usually carried larger reusable bags or backpacks into the restroom areas.

The woman subsequently filed a police report on the same day.

The Singapore Police Force confirmed that a report had been lodged and investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Sport Singapore said the matter is being taken seriously and that it is assisting with police investigations.

The incident has since sparked online discussions about public facility security, privacy concerns and the importance of vigilance in shared recreational spaces.
