She then reached out to a snake expert, Zachery, and learned that the snake that she found on her bed was an eastern brown snake, which is the 2nd most venomous snake in the world.

A snake expert from Queensland, Australia, shared the photo of the woman’s shocking find on his Facebook page, showing it slithering on the white-coloured bedsheets.

He told CBS News that the snake was found in the rural town of Maroon, and when he arrived at the scene, the woman was waiting for him outside the bedroom where the snake was.

He had told her earlier to close the door as well as shove a towel under the bedroom door to prevent the snake from slithering out.

Zachery then entered the room and found the snake lying in bed and “sleeping”, and when he went to “disturb” the snake, it slithered down underneath the bed.

He said that the snake was about 1.82 metres long but was otherwise quite docile, and only got slightly agitated when he tried to catch it.

The Eastern Brown Snake

The Eastern brown snake is considered to be one of the most venomous snakes in the world, and is found primarily in Australia. If you ever come face to face with an Eastern brown snake, it is important to know what to do to keep yourself and those around you safe.

  1. Stay Calm

The first and most important thing to do when encountering a snake is to stay calm. The Eastern brown snake is known for its quick and aggressive nature, and it is important not to make any sudden movements that could provoke the snake. Avoid yelling or making loud noises, as this could agitate the snake and make the situation worse.

  1. Keep a Safe Distance

If you see an Eastern brown snake, it is important to keep a safe distance. Snakes can strike from a distance of up to half their body length, so it is recommended to stay at least two meters away from the snake. Do not approach the snake, as this could provoke it to attack.

  1. Do Not Attempt to Catch or Kill the Snake

It is never recommended to attempt to catch or kill a venomous snake. This could put you at risk of being bitten, and could also put those around you in danger. It is important to remember that snakes play an important role in the ecosystem, and should be respected and left alone.

  1. Call for Help

If you come across an Eastern brown snake, it is important to call for help immediately. This could be your local wildlife rescue organization, a snake catcher or the emergency services. Do not attempt to handle the situation on your own, as this could put you at risk of being bitten.

  1. Keep the Area Clear

It is important to keep the area clear of people and pets while waiting for help to arrive. This will help to reduce the risk of anyone being bitten, and will also allow the snake to move away from the area on its own.

  1. Seek Medical Attention

If you or someone around you has been bitten by an Eastern brown snake, it is important to seek medical attention immediately. Venom from the Eastern brown snake can cause paralysis and other serious health complications, and prompt medical attention can be life-saving.
