A woman bought a bowl of fish soup from a hawker stall at Bishan, and when she tucked into her food, she found a huge fish hook inside.
Shin Min Daily News reported that the woman had gone to the hawker centre on the 2nd floor of Bishan Bus Interchange to buy lunch on 1 December.
She was shocked to find a pointy fish hook inside her fish soup, which was buried inside a piece of fish meat.
She then brought the food back to the stall and confronted the stall owner about the fish hook, and the stall owner allegedly tried to brush off the incident and was purportedly unapologetic.
The stall owner even allegedly pointed out that the woman had already eaten half of the food when she returned it.
The woman then raised her voice as the confrontation got heated and the stall owner then eventually relented and agreed to cook another bowl for her.
However, the customer requested a refund of the $6 that she paid for the food.
Stall owner responds
The stall owner, Mr Chen, then spoke to SMDN to share his side of the story, saying that he gets his fish meat from a supplier.
He added that the supplier would cut the fish meat before sending it over to them, but they didn’t notice the fish hook.
He added that they will be more careful next time.
Chen also added that the customer had requested another bowl but they ran out of fish heads and couldn’t do so, and that they had already refunded her.
