The case took place along Jalan Minggu, a private residential estate near Marymount. Residents reportedly noticed a white Volvo that had been illegally parked at a road junction for several hours, raising concerns among people living nearby, reported Lianhe Zaobao.

When officers arrived at the scene at around 11am, multiple police vehicles, including a K9 unit, were already conducting investigations around the car. Officers were seen removing various items from the vehicle and allowing a police dog to inspect them individually.

Police Officers Conducted Search After Woman Found Asleep In Driver’s Seat

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle had allegedly been parked there since around 4am. A nearby resident said she did not recognise either the car or its licence plate, leading her to believe the vehicle did not belong to someone living in the estate.

The resident also claimed that a woman had been sleeping inside the driver’s seat before she was later conveyed to hospital by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) at around 9am.

Police later confirmed that they received a call for assistance at about 8.50am. Upon arriving, officers found a woman asleep inside the driver’s seat of the parked vehicle and woke her up before conducting further checks.

During the search, officers allegedly uncovered suspected controlled substances, drug-related items, and several electronic vaporisers inside the car.

Suspected Drug Case Handed Over To CNB

Investigators were later seen laying out the seized items on the ground for documentation and photography. Among the objects spotted were several black box-like items and what appeared to be vape-related devices.

The woman was subsequently taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital while conscious, according to authorities.

The Singapore Police Force said the 38-year-old was later arrested for suspected drug-related offences. The case has since been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.

Meanwhile, matters relating to the electronic vaporisers were handed over to the Health Sciences Authority for follow-up action.

Singapore maintains strict anti-drug laws, and authorities have repeatedly warned that possession of controlled substances or illegal vaping products can result in severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment.
