A 35-year-old woman in India, Shyja, shared how she loves her moustache despite what her naysayers have been saying.
She first started to thicken her moustache 5 years ago after liking how it looks, and she has never felt like she needed to get rid of it.
Speaking to BBC, Shyja said “all I can say is that I just like it, a lot.”
She also expressed her disappointment at having to hide her moustache because she had to wear a mask during the pandemic.
Shyja also added that people have asked her to shave it away, but she has always refused and said that her confidence doesn’t equate to conforming to societal standards for beauty.
She said: “I never felt that I’m not beautiful because I have this or that it’s something i shouldn’t have,” she added, “people make fun of me saying its men who have a moustache and not women, but it’s about what I like, what to keep and what not to.”
She added that she just “does what she likes”, and that “if I had two lives, maybe I’d live one for others.”
On netizen reacting to her moustache negatively, she said that “sometimes I look them up to laugh at them.”
