I (23F) am about one year into my first job. I have been on this team in particular for four months and I’m finally getting the hang of it. One colleague (30M) and I got along immediately, as we have a lot of common interests.
We talk a lot during the day, but I have not been flirtatious. Recently, he put me on a few projects that are really great opportunities-
I was feeling good because not only am I getting along great with my team, but I’m getting great experience!
I recently ended a long-term relationship, and something in me told me to not tell him because I could tell he was interested in me. I thought he would be professional enough to not make things weird. Sure enough, earlier this week he sent me four long drunk paragraphs expressing his interest.
In the message (which was quite sensual) he said he was sorry and that he was drunk and would be deleting the texts so he did not have to know what he said. I got the text at midnight and didn’t want to deal with it so I went to bed.
He responded again in the morning and apologised and I said it was fine, let’s just do our jobs.
I am so so angry about this. I’m annoyed that he himself is responsible for deleting the message while I get my whole week thrown off. We spend a lot of time together during the work day and I really just wish he had kept it to himself and been professional. I enjoyed our friendship and now I just feel weird. Am I overreacting?
Why are men incapable of being friends/why couldn’t he have politely asked me on a date instead?
