A Facebook post that was published by NUS whisper has infuriated Facebook users for a woman’s irresponsible behaviour. The thread starter claims that he knows of a friend’s mother who refuses to visit the doctor despite having symptoms.
She came into contact with PRC customers and worked in a pharmaceutical store.

A friend of mine was very frustrated and told me how his mom refused to see the doctor, after apparently developing a cough and flu last night. She did not travel overseas for the past few months, but she is working at a pharmaceutical store and admitted that there are quite a number of customers from China that visited her store from time to time.
As you guys know, Singapore just reported her first case of human to human transmission to a local citizen who was working at a TCM store and interacted with many customers from Wuhan. The possibility of such an indirect transmission has been proven.
My friend told her to go and see a doctor just in case. He even offered to take urgent leave to accompany her to the doctor. However, his mom refuses to see a doctor and kept insisting and consoling him that it is not the virus. She has a habit of not visiting the doctor (like all Asian boomers, I guess) but in this current situation, I think such habits should be dismissed. It is the very fact that she knows there is a possibility of her having the virus that scares her from going to the doctor.
When he asked her why she is so afraid, she just ignored his question. Telling her that her actions are irresponsible and may cause more chain infections to seem to have not deterred her as well.
To the young people out there who has family members of such boomer mindset, I urge you to be aware of their health and to the best of your ability, encourage them to see the doctor. This is not the time for anyone to be selfish and pretend to play doctor to self-heal. One person’s actions may cause catastrophic consequences and result in many other people getting infected as well.
