The incident happened in China and a video of the “oceanarium” was shared online by a woman hailing from the Yinchuan City of Ningxia, in north-central China.

The woman shared that she received a link from her friends on WeChat about a new oceanarium, and she clicked on the link to see what it was all about.

On the site, it was explained that adults who could get the required number of likes on WeChat would win a free entry into the aforementioned oceanarium.

She then shared the link and forwarded it to her friends and followers on WeChat in order to get the number of likes that she required for the free entry.

After getting the required number of likes and successfully claiming her free entry into the oceanarium, the woman made her way down to the place but it wasn’t what it was touted to be.

When she arrived at the entrance of the oceanarium, she found out that entry for adults was free, and that she didn’t have to go through all the trouble of getting the number of likes online. However, although entry for adults was free, children were required to pay an entry fee of 25 yuan (or SGD$4.89) instead.

Regardless, she went into the oceanarium and found out that it was just a bunch of fish tanks inside a huge living room – It was simply an undecorated living room with fishes and shrimps inside small tanks placed around to serve as “exhibits”.

The “oceanarium” was also crowded and packed with a lot of people, with most of the visitors being children – their parents appeared to have been scammed as well into thinking that it was a legit aquarium.

The woman said that she is disappointed and angry, and called the whole incident a fraud on consumers.

Netizens online commented and joked that the oceanarium looked more like a seafood market, with another describing it as being like a scene straight from a Stephen Chow comedy movie.
