Made the mistake of telling my landlord how much money I’ve been saving
I live in a rental unit, paying month to month. My landlord does all home maintenance and repairs on his own. A few weeks ago, we had a conversation about life.
He asked me about school, and work, and how I’m doing. He’s always extremely friendly. So much that I forget that I work for his money.
I made a huge mistake being too honest with him. I said I’d got a raise at work and I’m living frugally to save as best as I can.
“Nice work. How much more are you able to save each month?” I tell him after all my expenses, I have an extra $200 in my pocket every month.
I knew I said too much the very second he left the house.
Yesterday, my landlord tells me that he’s raising my rent $200/mo next month.
Just goes to show that if you work real hard, pull yourself up by the bootstraps, you can give your landlord the raise he deserves.
