My sister is trying to start a similar business, after I told her about my ideas
For the past 3 years, I (29 F) have been making candles as a hobby. I finally decided to make a business out of it and have filled documents for an LLC.
I am super excited about it. I’ve been working on the scents, logos, websites etc. At the same time, my sister (36) starts talking about how to wants do some business and she mentions selling soaps/lotions/mugs and a bunch of other stuff.
A few days later, she ask me to do wholesale candles for her with custom scents that she can sell. Which annoyed me, because I haven’t event gotten my own business off the ground.
I told her not right now, maybe in the future. That was about two weeks ago, fast forward to two days ago, we are on the phone.
After trying to get answers on how I started candle making, she basically tells me that she is going start making and selling candles for her business.
This honestly pissed me off because it is something I am passionate about. She hasn’t make one candle a day in her life. This was something that was my own thing that I was so excited to do.
I know it’s selfish, but I now I feel like I’m competing with my sister. I really want to express my feelings about this to her, but I don’t want to ruin my relationship with her.
How can I go about expressing how I feel to her, while sparing her feelings?
