On 16/5/2017 a 24-year-old construction worker went on trial on for kidnapping and sexually assualting a woman, now 41, who was hiking along the Lornie Trail at MacRitchie Reservoir in broad daytime two years ago.
At about 1.45pm on Feb 8, 2015, Pramanik Liton, a Bangladeshi national, supposedly approached the woman, who was then 39 years old, and requested for her to have sex with him.
When she rejected, he detained a knife beside her neck, concealed her nose and mouth and seized her to a woody area off the track.
After raping the woman two times and pushing her to do oral sex on him, Liton flung the blade into alternative part of the woody area and left her there, said Deputy Public Prosecutor Stella Tan.
The woman, a Chinese national who has been employed in Singapore since 2009, phoned her partner – now her husband – for assistance at about 3.35pm and met him at the Mushroom Cafe near the entry of the park.
They lodged a police report that evening.
