A 20-year-old woman was sentenced on 8 August to 3 months imprisonment for attacking a 17-year-old girl at a home where the two of them were staying at, according to The Straits Times.
She launched a violent attack on a 17-year-old girl at a home where the former was sent to. The assault, lasting approximately four minutes, unfolded before two other residents who witnessed the disturbing scene.
The woman subjected the teenager to a barrage of punches, while also forcefully pulling her hair and repeatedly slamming her head against the floor. She reportedly pulled the girl’s hair so hard that a few clumps of hair was pulled out of the victim’s head.
Even in the presence of a staff member who arrived at the scene, the assailant continued her assault, relenting only when the worker intervened and separated the victim from her attacker.
Medical examination revealed that the teenager had sustained injuries, including a fractured nose, as a consequence of the ordeal.
The assailant pleaded guilty to a charge of assault during a court hearing in June.
Due to a court order, specific information regarding the offender, the residential facility, and the victim cannot be divulged.
The court documents did not disclose the reason behind the offender’s placement in the residential facility.
What happened?
The altercation occurred on January 22, 2023, around 9:20 a.m., following a disagreement between the assailant and the victim.
Following the dispute, the woman then attacked the teenager in the presence of two other residents. She proceeded to strike the victim’s head multiple times with punches and kicks.
In an attempt to shield herself, the victim instinctively raised her arms to cover her face. Exploiting an opportunity, the offender seized the victim’s hair and forcefully slammed her head against the floor, while also grabbing on to her hair.
Despite the assailant’s explicit command for witnesses not to intervene, one of them managed to utilize an intercom system nearby to alert the facility staff about the ongoing violence.
A staff member promptly arrived at the scene but failed to persuade the assailant to cease her assault on the teenager.
For undisclosed reasons, the offender momentarily distanced herself from the victim, allowing the staff member to swiftly separate them.
Subsequently, the offender was escorted out of the room and placed in isolation for a few days as a precautionary measure.
The victim was immediately transported to the hospital, where medical examinations confirmed her injuries, including a scalp contusion and a fractured nose.
On January 25, the incident was reported to the police, prompting their involvement.
