A woman’s 6-year-old son asked whether she was a prostitute after learning about the word on TV.
Here is the story
Long story short, my husband, my 6yo son and I were watching TV yesterday evening and suddenly during the dialogue exchange, the word ‘prostitute’ came up, with subtitles. And our son turned to us and asked what is a prostitute. I looked at my husband, expecting him to handle the situation.
Hubby:- it’s a setup to make a man and a woman happy.
Son:- what do you mean…
Hubby:- (looking over to me, visibly uncomfortable). Well, it means when a woman does a favour to a man to make the man happy for money.
Son:- Do mommy does prostitute? (Neither of us were expecting that and I burst out laughing upon hearing this and having no help from me my husband tried to handle the situation desperately)
Hubby:- No no… Not married woman.
Son:- So mommy did prostitute before marrying you?
Hubby:- Noooo…mommy never did prostitution.
Son:- (Now seemed offended and looked me and asked out loud) why didn’t you prostitute?
Before I could say anything my hubby said “mommy won’t do prostitution” and our son still wasn’t convinced and said “yes she prostitute. Mommy got money in purse”.
Seeing this was going out of spiral I asked him if he’d like some icecream and he nodded and I got off the couch and went to the kitchen and the topic was dropped.
However seems like it has become a joke between my husband and I. I whispered in his ear this morning when we were in the bed “so you married a prostitute huh?” And he laughed and was like “don’t start that again”.
