According to a media release, part-time security was killed after he falls into a 4-metre pit hole near to 1-altitude rooftop bar last year.
Ministry of Manpower officer states that the pit was supposed to be covered up on a daily basis after cleaning work is done. However, workers feel that it is a bothersome task to move the 80kg for work daily and therefore they left the pit uncovered.
Signs and barriers were also put up to warn others about the opening which is found to be useless.
According to court documents, the deceased was briefed to be cautious when at the area on his first day of work. Signs have also been set up to remind customers not to go near the area.
Unfortunately, on the day of his death, the deceased was trying to warn 2 customers who had entered the restricted area. However, the deceased failed to spot the pit with his torchlight and fell into it.
After the deceased fall into the pit, his colleagues rushed to his assistance. Sadly the deceased was pronounced dead 30 minutes later after the paramedic’s arrival.
