The Workers’ Party (WP) held their National Day dinner n 13 August, and WP leader Pritam Singh announced that they will be expanding their WPCF Handyman Subsidy Scheme to all residents in the Aljunied, Sengkang and Hougang GRCs.
The WPCF Handyman Subsidy Scheme, which was launched back in April, comes under the WP Community Fund, which is for seniors who are living alone and above 60 years old.
Eligible residents can claim for home repair work by making the payment to their handyman first and bringing the receipt to their MP’s meet-the-people session.
The claim will then be subjected to review on a case-by-case basis, and once it has been approved, the resident will be contacted to come and collect their cheque.
WP came together even since Raeesah Khan stepped down
Singh also responded to questions about former WP MP Raeesah Khan, saying that he is proud of the party and how quickly they came together as one.
He added that if they weren’t united, they will have a problem engaging the public and being persuasive to be a voice and represent the interest of the opposition in parliament effectively.
Singh also added that Khan will be replaced with another candidate “in due course”.
