
An accident happened along Upper Thomson Road at about 6pm in the evening on February 13, the same day as the infamous car crash at Tanjong Pagar car crash.
The couple was inside their car when their heard small “pop” sounds going off in their car, the couple then stopped their car and alighted from their vehicle to see what was wrong.
Soon after, the car caught fire, and the two escaped death.
SCDF personnel then rushed over to the scene and put out the fire, nobody was injured in the incident.
The driver of the car, Kang Shang Long, 34, said that the car was about 10 years old and it belonged to his father.
He was enroute to dininer with his wife but he noticed something was wrong along the way and heard little explosions emanating from the car.
He then found a place to stop the car before he got out with his wife and they asked for help.
Within a few minutes, the car was already engulfed in flames.
They tried to find a fire extinguisher but there wasn’t any at all, so the two could only watch the car being consumed by the fire.
The SCDF said that the cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
