YET ANOTHER COMFORT TAXI SEEN BEATING RED LIGHT @ WOODLANDS

A video emerged online showing a Comfort taxi beating a red light at Woodlands Drive 73, in yet another incident of taxis beating red lights.

The incident happened on 11 February at about 12.40pm and was captured on the dashcam of a vehicle behind.

The traffic light was seen turning red early and the taxi had plenty of time to slow down, but the taxi driver failed to slow down and stop, instead choosing to drive on past the red light.

A pedestrian was also seen waiting for the offending taxi to drive past before crossing the road.

Potential penalties

It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.

They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
