
According to a SCDF FB post, a fire broke out in a HDB unit located at Block 502A Yishun St 51. The fire was caused by an overheated Power-Assisted Bicycle (PAB), On the day of the incident, an off duty SCDF officer helped to put out the fire with a water hose before the arrival of the SCDF.
A total of 80 residents were evacuated in the process and 3 were sent to Singapore General Hospital for treatment due to smoke inhalation.

At about 4.50am today, SCDF responded to a fire at a 7th floor unit of Block 502A Yishun St 51.
The fire involved the contents of the living room. A neighbour extinguished the fire using a hose reel prior to SCDF’s arrival. The neighbour is WO Nasiruddin, an off-duty SCDF officer.
SCDF paramedics assessed three of the affected unit’s occupants and conveyed them to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation. About 80 residents self-evacuated from the block.
Preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire indicates that it was of electrical origin from a Power-Assisted Bicycle (PAB) battery that was charging at the time of the fire.
