Police also recovered the stolen bank cards, NRICs, and EZ-Link card from the man’s possession during the arrest.

In addition, officers seized a plier that was allegedly used to gain entry into the flat during the housebreaking incident.

The swift arrest has drawn attention online, with some netizens praising the rapid response and surveillance capabilities used in solving the case.

If convicted, he could face a jail term of up to 10 years, along with a possible fine.

The police also reminded residents to remain vigilant and take preventive measures against housebreaking and theft.

Among the safety tips shared were securing doors and windows with quality locks and grilles, avoiding keeping large amounts of cash at home, and installing CCTV systems or burglar alarms where possible.

Residents were also encouraged to avoid hiding spare keys in obvious locations and to report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 999.

The incident once again highlights the importance of home security, especially in residential estates where opportunistic crimes can occur during periods when units are left unattended.
