Meaningless traditions should stop.
TLDR – be considerate while burning paper offerings if it’s going to affect the people around the area.
I feel that paper offering burning needs to stop. Even though I’m a Chinese. I really don’t see any positive benefits of having it. People, no matter how much you tell them to burn properly, throw the rubbish properly, simply refuses to learn. It’s not even religious, it’s just a stupid practice that has been inherited throughout the generations. Do y’all even know if hell has such concept of currency usage? Don’t care right? Pretty sure billions of dollars have been burnt throughout the years. Inflation down there must be pretty insane right?
I feel that it’s bloody selfish to expect others to deliberately avoid stepping on your burnt shit when the f**king thing is all over the walkway. “dOnT sTeP oN tHe MoNeY, lAtEr ThE gHoSt CoMe HaUnT yOu”. Do y’all even clean up after yourself after all that burning? No, y’all just expect the town council cleaner to do it for you. Privileged f**ks. Then they clean halfway and just so happen to step on the burnt mess? Die ah? Or the ghost will be like…. “okay understandable, have a nice day”? Or y’all just don’t care because you’ve done your “due diligence” and the ghosts are happy now.
Another stupid thing is, y’all be burning shit like houses, smart phones and cars. Like seriously? How tf do you think it would work in hell? The house you buy inside no furniture like wtf? I see some houses got maid inside… Really? You expect the devil to conjure a maid everytime someone decides to burn a house? Y’all burn the car but no engine or parts required for the car to move. Need burn mechanic shop in case car spoil? Burn iPhone but never burn sim card and charger. Need burn one singtel outlet so they can get reception?
Don’t get me wrong, if you burn your own shit in a place where won’t be disturbing anyone, sure by all means.
PS – If you feel that there are some traditions that are meaningless and needs to stop, do mention them in the comments to raise awareness and get people to question the logic of all these meaningless practices.
