A video emerged online showing a group of youths gathering on a bridge above the Singapore River.
One of the youths was seen climbing over the railing of the bridge and standing on the edge, looking down into the river.
He was seen with his shirt off and he mentally prepared himself to jump into the waters below.
After much goading, the youth then jumped down from the bridge and did a front flip before falling into the waters.
His friends then erupted into a chorus of rapturous cheers and applause at the act that they have just witnessed.
Swimming in the Singapore River
Singapore Uncensored understands that it is illegal to swim in the Singapore River, as the river falls into the “reservoir” category, being part of the Marina Reservoir.
According to PUB; swimming, frolicking, and washing are not permitted in reservoirs as the local catchment water is a source of the country’s drinking supply.
However, respite is given in the case of someone falling or capsizing into the water body (kayaking, however, is allowed at the Singapore River).
