A full-time national serviceman (NSF) was sentenced to 21 months of probation after he was found guilty of molesting a 7-year-old girl. It is reported that the NSF has filmed himself touching the victim with his mobile phone.
During the police investigations, an upskirt video was found on the accused laptop. Both offences were reportedly committed before he was enlisted for his national service.
According to the court document, the NSF’s first offence backdate to 14 Feb 2018. On the day of the incident, he was making his way home when he spotted the 7-year-old girl at a fitness corner at Bukit Panjang.
He approached the girl asking her if she would like to use the pull-up bar in the fitness corner. He later lifted the girl to the bar after she expressed her interest. While the girl was hanging on the pull-up bar, the NSF took out his mobile phone and filmed himself touching the girl while he was helping her down.
The NSF’s second offence was dated on 05 Jul 2019 where he took an upskirt video of a 31-year-old woman who was standing in front of him on the escalator while at Choa Chu Kang LRT station.
He was caught red-handed by the victim after she left something touching her thigh. The victim then took his phone away from him and led him to the control station where the police were alerted by SMRT staff.
According to the law, anyone convicted of insulting a woman modesty could face a jail term up to a year, fined or both. Anyone convicted of molesting a child below 14 years old could face a jail term up to 5 years, fined or both.
