YP SETS PAPER ON FIRE THEN THROWS IT DOWN HIGH RISE HDB BUILDING

A video emerged online showing a guy setting a piece of paper on fire before throwing it out of a window and down a high-rise HDB building.

The video was captioned “happy new year” followed by a GIF of a couple of wine glasses clanking together.

Potential penalties

Littering is an offence in Singapore and is defined as dropping, placing or throwing any article or t hing in a public place except a rubbish bin.

Persons caught littering face a fine of up to $2,000 for the first offence as well as the possibility of Corrective Work Order.

Repeat offenders face a fine of up to $4,000 for the second offence and a fine of up to $10,000 for the third and subsequent offence.
