Hi, i never thought i would be writing this here . But i need some views about this matter that took place.
My son applied for a part time job through fastjob while waiting for school to resume. Its his first part time job. Turning 18 this year. The company name is TCC.
TCC routed him to RWS for a banquet job. The agent frm TCC called my son and say he got the slot to work overtime and ends at 2am. But at 11pm , one of the team leader told him there is no slot and he have to go home. They do not have a place for him in the transport.
We are staying in Woodlands. The train that he managed to catch , ended at Bradell Mrt Station. My son called me at 1am in the morning saying he is stuck there and the cash he had wasnt sufficient for him to go home .
First day of the job , and this is what he face. Taxi fare is $28.20 which i have to take out from my own pocket .
Is this the practice of people working in banquets or is this the right practice for them to just send staffs home just like that ?
I have emailed RWS to asked about this matter and i hope they get back to me about this .
Anyone working in banquets line able to explain about how the system works ?
Im just abit lost to what just took place and i really dont know what to think of this matter

- It pains us as parents for this to happen to our child. But it’s part of growing up in a real working world. Nothing is fair. No one plays by the rule. But that’s life. This will not the the only time this happen to him. But I’m sure he will learn and get tougher as it goes. I wish you and your family well Madam.
- Actually it not RWS fault,u should email to TCC cause TCC is agent that appoint your son,so any matters should refer to them,they might refund your the transport fees if the reasons is valid
- For banquet, their manpower is plan in advance based on the no. of function booked by their client.
And daily, they have to wait till their last function ended in their ballroom before they can start to set up for next day event.
At times due to last min cancellation by their client, the staff needed to OT will change as well. But is rare but unlikely that the banquet manger will inform your son so late.
However as long as at that point of time when the manager inform your son that he was not needed and there’s still transport, they will not be liable for it.
Sorry what had happen to your son, but it is also a good chance for leaning. On how he can roughly know the time needed to reach home, anything can happen anything hence he needs to think and react.
Is part and parcel of life when he grows up.
All the best. - i working in banquet team..usually after 11pm they should go back by taxi and the manager of the banquet will issue taxi voucher which dont have to pay any single cent..and the taxi will directly send ur son straight home to his house unless ur son change location last min.u should report this to the agent and can ask for a refund of ur fork out money
