19-YEAR-OLD ALLEGEDLY CHEATED DELIVERYMAN INTO GIVING HIM PAYMENT, ARRESTED

The Singapore Police Force said in a news release that a 19-year-old man was arrested o September 10 for allegedly cheating a deliveryman into giving him payment.

He allegedly cheated the man by pretending to be a delivery customer.

The police said: “The victim was directed to deliver an item from a seller and was asked to make upfront payment to the seller first, under assurance that he would be paid back upon making the delivery.”

The deliveryman received the item that was supposedly for delivery, he was then directed to a non-existent location for delivery and the man who impersonated as the seller then became uncontactable.

The suspect was then identified with the help of CCTV images by officers from the Bedok Police Division, he was then arrested.

Investigations revealed that he may be involved in other cheating cases.

The 19-year-old will be charged in court on September 11 and faced a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine if found guilty.
