
Six people are being investigated by the police as a result of enforcement operations conducted on ten massage parlours between August 26 and September 2, 2021.
Massage establishments around Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4, Jalan Selaseh, Simon Road, and Upper Serangoon Road were targeted by officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division.
Six massage shops were found to have broken the Massage Establishments Act in various ways. Four massage parlours were discovered to be operating without a legal license, while vice-related activities were allegedly uncovered at two additional permitted massage parlours.
Police investigations against six persons, including the operators, are ongoing.

Under Sec 5(1) of the Massage Establishments Act, those found carrying on a business of providing massage services in an establishment for massage without a valid licence shall be fined up to S$10,000, face imprisonment of up to two years, or both. For repeat offenders, the offence carries a fine not exceeding $20,000, or imprisonment of up five years, or both.
Under Section 35 of the same Act, those found to have breached the prescribed rules and conditions may be subjected to a fine not exceeding $5,000, and in the case of a subsequent conviction, a fine not exceeding $10,000, or imprisonment of up to two years, or both.
