
2 men aged 27 and 29 were arrested on 13 Nov 2020 for the suspected involvement in loanshark harassment. The cases were reported that in two separated police release and is not indicated as linked.
Tampines Case
The first case involved the 27-year-old suspect. On the 28 Oct 2020, the police were alerted around 10.50 pm to a case of loanshark harassment that happens along Tampines Street 91. It was reported that the suspect had locked the gate of a unit with a bicycle lock before leaving a debtor’s note.
Bedok Case
The second case involved the 29-year-old suspect. On the 11 Nov 2020, the police were alerted around 4.35 am to a case of loanshark harassment that happens along Bedok Reservoir Road. The door of the victim was sprayed with paint and a debtor’s note was left behind.
The police investigated both cases and managed to established the identities of the 2 suspects with the aid of the police CCTV. Both men were arrested on the same day on 13 Nov 2020.
The 2 suspects were charged in court on 15 Nov 2020. If they were found guilty of their offences, they were both face a jail term up to 5 years, fined up to $50,000 with mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
