TWO MEN ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY WITH HURT WITHIN 13 HOURS
The Police have arrested two men, aged 19 and 52, for their suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.
On 6 September 2023 at about 12.45am, the Police were alerted to a case of robbery with hurt along Tampines Street 22. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men had allegedly assaulted the victim and robbed him of his wallet and mobile phone. The victim sustained injuries and was conveyed to the hospital.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs and Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the two men and arrested them within 13 hours of the report. The stolen mobile phone and cash amounting to more than S$630 were recovered.
The suspects will be charged in court on 8 September 2023 with the offence of robbery with hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and caning of not less than 12 strokes.

In another similar incident that unfolded last week in Kuching, Sarawak, a Malaysian woman became the victim of a violent robbery within the confines of a shopping mall restroom. The harrowing incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on September 2nd.
The assailants, two individuals aged 19, subjected the unsuspecting woman to a terrifying ordeal. They not only robbed her of her valuables but also subjected her to brutal violence, leaving her with injuries so severe that they necessitated plastic surgery.
Despite the horrific nature of the incident, the local police acted swiftly, apprehending the two suspects within a mere 24 hours of the robbery taking place, according to The Borneo Post.
As reported by The Borneo Post, the incident unfolded at approximately 3:53 a.m. on September 2nd. The victim, a young woman, entered the restroom facilities of a shopping mall in Kuching. It was here that she fell prey to the two assailants who forcibly took her gold jewelry and mobile phone.
But their criminal acts did not stop at theft. Shockingly, they subjected the 24-year-old woman to a merciless beating and ended up breaking her nose, rendering her unconscious. It was her boyfriend who later discovered her grievously injured in the restroom.
Upon finding her in such a dire state, they immediately contacted the authorities at 3:53 a.m., as reported by The Borneo Post.
