I’m 21, am shorter than most (150cm), still look like I’m 17, and am scared that I’m not taken seriously at work.

Scared that they don’t take me seriously
I often meet new people in my job (who are significantly older than I am) and I am often scared they won’t take me seriously because of how small I look.
Over emails I feel like everything is good but I’m just scared that the moment they hear my voice over call / see my face over Zoom, they’ll think ‘what the f- is this kid doing’
I feel like I need to be more mature, more put together, just more than I am right now.
Any advice would be appreciated :”)

Here are what netizens think
- If you act serious, people will take you serious. I started my career at 20. I was the youngest person on my team and in my division. They took me seriously because I know my stuff. Don’t let imposter syndrome get to you. Do your work, do it well and people will respect you.
- As long as you are humble, willing to learn and receive feedback well, I don’t see an issue. You are new to the workforce and definitely there are some people who will play the ‘seniority’ card so as long as you stick to the ‘rules’, it should not be a problem.
- There sure to be some first impression judging when they first see you, everyone judges so it is gonna be normal. Just need to know when to stand your ground and when to be polite and humble. All should go well! good luck!
