He was found dead hours before his scheduled hearing at the High Court.

When he failed to show up for the hearing, his father told the court that his son couldn’t be contacted and when he woke up in the morning at about 8.30am, his son was not at home as well.

He added that his son’s mobile phone had been “cut off”.

Wong’s lawyer also said that his client had messaged him at about 3am and it didn’t appear that he would not be showing up in court.

Found dead

The police said that they were alerted to a case of unnatural dead yesterday (3 February) at about 6.55am, at Block 18D Holland Drive.

A 27-year-old man was found lying motionless at the foot of a HDB block and pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

The police added that based on their preliminary investigations, they do not suspect foul play, as that investigations are ongoing.

Crimes

Wong was convicted last year of raping an 18-year-old girl who was intoxicated when he brought her back to his home after approaching her in Clark Quay.

The incident happened in March 2019, and the victim was with her boyfriend and colleagues in F Club at Clark Quay.

Wong noticed that she was alone and his friend then tried to chat her up but failed, and the two men then went to have a meal.

They then returned and Wong then approached the girl, bringing her to a Starbucks outlet before getting in a taxi to send her home.

The victim was seen in CCTV footage vomiting and stumbling.

The victim woke up and found out that she was not wearing any clothes, she then borrowed $14 from Wong to take a taxi home, before she then made a police report later in the day.

Wong was subsequently arrested at Tuas Checkpoint at about 8.45pm later that day as well.

The police also discovered another encounter with a 27-year-old victim, Wong had met the victim in April 2018 at Zouk before bringing her to a handicap toilet.

He then partially took down her pants and took photos of her.

Wong was then charged with attempted rape but the High Court found that his actions were not sufficient to charge him with it and he was acquitted, before being convicted last December of molesting the 27-year-old victim instead.
