
A 29 year old man was recently kidnapped after parking his car in an alley next to a restaurant at Little India. When he got off the car, he was surrounded by four men rushing out of an Audi. He was then ordered to kneel on the spot. He was forced to get into the car, before the car door was slammed and accelerating away. The whole process happened in less than a minute.
The incident happened at 9pm last Sunday (16 August) near Verdun Road at Little India.
Members of the public who worked in the vicinity were aware of the kidnapping case but nobody had any time to react as it happened too fast.
It was believed that the four kidnappers were all Chinese. A passerby who witnessed the incident called the police. The police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area for 7 hours before towing away the Ferrari.
With aid from CCTV cameras in the vicinity, the identity of the perpetrators were established within a day. It was believed that the victim cheated the perpetrators and the perpetrators wanted to recover money from the Ferrari driver.
The police statement also disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that one of the men was believed that he was deceived in an e-commerce fraud case, and the four illegally detained him in an attempt to recover money.
Four men between the ages of 31 and 33 were arrested.
