A 29-year-old Singaporean man has mysteriously vanished while on a trip to Malaysia, just two days after celebrating his wedding. The man, identified as He Wenhui (transliterated from Chinese), reportedly went for a morning jog near his in-laws’ residence in Sungai Long, Selangor, and has not been seen since.
According to Malaysia’s Sin Chew Daily, He had messaged his wife at 5:02am on July 7 with a video, telling her he would return in ten minutes. But just 15 minutes later, he became unreachable, sparking panic among his family and friends.
The sudden disappearance comes just 48 hours after his wedding ceremony, turning what should have been a joyful celebration into a distressing search effort.
Red Slippers Found Near Jogging Route
He Wenhui, a financial manager based in Singapore, had visited his in-laws’ home in Sungai Long on multiple occasions and was known to enjoy morning jogs in the area. On the morning he went missing, security camera footage captured him leaving the house in his running attire.
When he failed to return, his wife and in-laws launched an immediate search around the neighbourhood. Later that day, a pair of red slippers—which his father-in-law confirmed He had been wearing—were discovered near a gas station close to a park. The location is believed to be along his usual jogging route.
With no further signs of his whereabouts, the family filed a missing person report at the Sungai Long Police Station. Authorities have since begun investigating the case while family and friends from Singapore have also travelled to Malaysia to assist in the search.
Family Pleads for Public Help as Investigation Continues
As of now, no leads have been confirmed regarding He’s possible location or the circumstances behind his sudden disappearance. His loved ones are appealing to anyone who may have seen him or captured relevant CCTV footage in the area to step forward.
The case has quickly drawn public attention on both sides of the Causeway, especially given the unusual and deeply emotional timing—just days after the couple’s wedding.
Safety during overseas travel, especially for Singaporeans visiting family in Malaysia, is once again under the spotlight. This case also echoes past reports of joggers or lone travellers going missing in suburban and forested areas, leading to calls for better lighting, surveillance, and rapid response systems in Malaysian parks and public paths.
As investigations continue, concern grows for He Wenhui’s safety. Those with information are encouraged to contact local authorities or the Sungai Long police directly.
