A drug-smuggling attempt was foiled by ICA officers from Tuas Command on 20 December involving a Malaysia-registered lorry.
The lorry was trying to smuggle about 3.1kg of cannabis into Singapore, hidden within a consignment of aircon parts and mixed hardwood.
The lorry was directed by the officers for further checks and they found a drawstring back behind the driver’s seat containing a black plastic bag.
The plastic bag contained 3 packages individually wrapped in aluminum foil and transparent plastic and was believed to have contained about 3,113 grams of cannabis.
A 24-year-old Malaysian man who was the driver was then arrested and referred to the CNB for further investigations.
