Three Malaysian men aged between 28 and 36 have been arrested after they were allegedly caught urinating by the roadside in Johor.
The incident reportedly took place along the Johor Bahru Eastern Dispersal Link Highway and was captured in a video that subsequently circulated online.
The footage, reportedly uploaded in the early hours of Sep. 20, showed three men standing beside a black multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). The men appeared to be relieving themselves at the roadside, while their private parts were not visible in the video.
Video prompts police investigation
A person recording the incident could be heard reacting to what was happening, apparently expressing disgust at the men’s actions.
The video later came to the attention of local police, who said they received information about the incident at around 6.11pm on Sep. 20.
Police subsequently launched an investigation to identify those involved.
At around 9.30pm that same day, officers arrested three men believed to be connected to the incident.
Authorities also seized an MPV which was found outside a restaurant in Johor. The vehicle was reportedly believed to be connected to the investigation.
Men investigated for alleged indecency
According to a police statement issued on Sep. 21, one of the three men was found to have a previous criminal record.
The trio also underwent urine screening, with police reporting that all three tested negative for illegal substances.
The men are now being investigated for an alleged offence involving indecent behaviour.
The incident has also attracted attention online after the video circulated on social media.
Under Malaysian law, an offence involving indecent behaviour may carry a prison sentence of up to two years, depending on the specific charge and circumstances.
The allegations remain subject to investigation, and an arrest does not in itself establish guilt.
Authorities have not indicated whether further charges will be brought against the three men.
