30 Y.O MAN ARRESTED FOR HIS SUSPECTED INVOLVEMENT IN E-COMMERCE SCAMS

A 30-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in multiple e-commerce scams.

The police were alerted after receiving multiple reports from victims between 20 Jul 2020 to 23 Jul 2020 claiming that they were scammed by an online seller on Carousell. Apparently, they have purchased a second-hand mobile phone on the platform and they did not receive any goods after the payments were made. They then tried to contact the seller but he went missing in action.

After investigations, the police identified the identity of the suspect and arrested him on the 04 Sep 2020. The total amount scammed adds up to $175 and investigations are ongoing.

According to the law, anyone convicted of cheating could face a jail term for up to 10 years and fine.
