Police held a joint enforcement operations consisting of officers from the Tanglin Police Division, the Secret Societies Branch as well as the Singapore Civil Defence Force on 20 Jan to 29 Jan which rounded up 62 people for flouting pandemic rules and also various offences at entertainment venues.
The operation was targeted at public entertainment outlets, both licensed and unlicensed ahead of the coming Chinese New Year period.
Balestier Road
17 were arrested here for allegedly consuming alcohol and singing at an unlicensed KTV lounge. They are aged between 27 and 66 and consists of 12 men and five women.
Another two who are believed to be the operators were arrested by the Police under the Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act 2015. They are two men aged 34 and 39 respectively.
They will also be investigated by the authorities under the Public Entertainments Act 1958.
Four other women were also arrested for flouting the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act 1990 and are aged between 29 to 38.
All that were caught are also investigated for flouting safe management rules in place.
The Police added that all that were rounded up are between 25 to 66 years of age.
Out of 13 outlets which were inspected, seven of them breached several rules under the Public Entertainments Act 1958, the Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act 2015, the Common Gaming Houses Act 1961, the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020 and the Fire Safety Act 1993.
Another 28 year old was arrested for involvement in alleged gang activities.

Gambling at a unit in Upper Thomson Road
Nine men aged between 24 and 47 were arrested by the Police after being found inside a unit at Upper Thomson Road allegedly dabbling in gambling activities.
They were all arrested for flouting the Common Gaming Houses Act 1961 and will also be investigated for breaching pandemic measures.
A 30 year old man who was also arrested will also be investigated for running and controlling a illegal gambling den.
Alcohol sales after 10:30pm
A restaurant in Mohamed Sultan Road is also under investigation for allowing alcohol to be consumed and sold after 10:30pm.
Tanglin Police Division’s Commander who is also the Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cheong Chee Ming said that the Police conduct such enforcement actions nearing festive seasons to keep the public safe.
Stern enforcement action will be taken against those who flout the rules and they will be dealt with according to the law.
Police also mentioned that they have no tolerance against those who flout rules that threaten the public in terms of safety, the peace and the orderly manner which the public runs on.
Regular enforcement actions and checks will still be undertaken by them Police to maintain law and order and to prevent the flouting of pandemic rules throughout the festive period.
