73-year-old Lim Cheng Kiat pleaded guilty to three counts of outrage of modesty and is currently waiting to be sentenced for his crimes.
He had admitted to molesting three teenage girls between 13 and 15 years of age at different sections of the shopping mall Northpoint City in Yishun on the same day, according to TODAY.
The crimes took place on 23 February earlier this year.
First victim at B2
Lim was in Basement 2 of the mall when he noticed the 15-year-old victim in her school uniform walking past him with her friend.
He then turned to cross paths with her and bumped into her left cheek with his right shoulder, “pinching” her chest over her blouse before walking away in a hurry.
The girl realised that she had been molested and alerted a staff member at the service counter of the mall, who then helped her make a police report.
Second victim at L1
On the first floor of the mall, Lim did the same thing when he passed a 13-year-old schoolgirl who was with her friend at the time.
This time, Lim apologised to the girl after molesting her but then left the scene in a hurry, and the girl later tried to find him but couldn’t.
She then told her mother about what happened and a police report was then lodged.
Third victim at B2
The third victim was a 15-year-old girl in her school uniform at the Subway fast-food restaurant in Basement 2 of the mall, buying food at the time.
He nudged her on the shoulder while she was looking at the menu and gripped her chest over her blouse before leaving without saying anything.
The girl then cried to her friend about what had happened and the police were alerted to the incident.
Lim was arrested later that same night after police officers managed to identify him through the use of CCTV footage.
Unrepentant
According to TODAY, Lim admitted to touching the victims but said that his actions were trivial and that he didn’t rape them.
He said that he bumped into the girls with the intention of touching their chests and pretending that it was an accident.
Lim also told the judge in court that it was cowardly to enter a mitigation plea to lower his sentence, and said that “it is okay to die in prison”.
His hearing on 18 May was then postponed to 20 June due to the severity of his offence and his recalcitrant behaviour, so that they can consider the appropriate punishment for him.
